Cities engulfed in corrupted darkness of dark ages come from the overuse of sanctity that is powering the GodMachine and all the lesser technologies trying to bind sanctity of flowing blood of the still living Son of Man into the fuel for this industrial revolution. Sparks of divinity make themselves home in some of the individuals that get filled with The Spirit performing miracles or performing inhuman abilities.
Those individuals are sacered through contact. Their goals remain individual, but often result in adventuring.
